George Washington himself had the idea to attribue "Badge of military Merit" that should have been awarded for military achievements. This was the original tense for the Badge "Let it be known that he who wears the military order of the purple heart has given of his blood in the defense of his homeland and shall forever be revered by his fellow countrymen." The Badge of Military Merit was only awarded to three Revolutionary War soldiers and fell into disuse following the War of Independence. Although never abolished, the award of the badge was not proposed again officially until after World War I. Before the badge that we all know it was like that

then after the decision of the chiefs of staff and especially by Douglas McArthur, who commisioned a new design it became like this and an image of G. Washinton was put on the medal to celebrate also his 200th birth anniversary
